Geo Browser / Location Cruise Control

This feature is accessible in the Main Menu. Once activated, each time the user location change, Marvin will update the current search location in Marvin, by rotating the globe or moving on the map and fetch new objects around the user using the defined persistent search query.

:emulatorScreenSnapz019.png

Location Cruise Control just started

Like a Cruise Control in a car: If you change the location manually by rotating the globe or sliding the map, the Location Cruise Control will disengage itself and stop using the location services to avoid using too much battery energy.

Location Cruise Control stopped

Geo Browser / Persistent Search Query

:emulatorScreenSnapz006.png:emulatorScreenSnapz007.png

Persistent Search Panel

This screen is the persistent search query panel that opens when you touch the top of the screen in the geo browser.

You can combine a keyword and a type of service with the already active geographical facet the geo browser is using.

By sliding the Marvin service list to the right or left you can browse objects from your network, the one you published or the one you received in private.

The Marvin Network list can also slide left or right to go back to the Marvin Services list.

Geo Browser / Local and Focus Modes

From the geo browser by touching the center of the screen you travel from the Earth (Global) View to the Local view.

:emulatorScreenSnapz008.png:emulatorScreenSnapz009.png

Local and Focus

In Local mode Zoom In and Zoom Out is done using the Up and Down keys.

By touching again the center of the screen in Local mode you enter the Focus mode. Focus mode displays the Map in 3D and shows more information about the message in the bottom tab.

The Focus mode opens the bottom tab and you can then access information about the message author or open the message by clicking the left or right side of it.

Toggle Local and Focus mode by touching the center of the screen. Or hit the Back key to exit Focus and Local modes.

Geo Browser / Exploration mode

:emulatorScreenSnapz010.png

From Global, Local and Focus view mode, by selecting the MainMenu/Mode you can choose the standard Map and Satellite views plus a light weight ÒTronÓ Mode witch replace the map with a wireframe and Finally the Marvin Street mode has been built on top of Google StreetView.

:emulatorScreenSnapz011.png:emulatorScreenSnapz012.png

In this mode Marvin will try to incorporate into the 3D rendering of Google StreetView the objects surrounding you. The messages will blend into the Google StreetView panorama. Exit this mode by changing the exploration mode again or by hitting the Back key.

Publishing a document

Publishing a message is very simple; first you select a service in which the message will be stored.

:emulatorScreenSnapz013.png

The Services to publish in.

Then you enter the textual content and a title and attach an optional document by clicking on the folder icon. See the section ÒSelecting a documentÓ, below in this documentation.

:emulatorScreenSnapz014.png:emulatorScreenSnapz015.png

The textual content on the message / The attached document

Then it is time to create a new feed, by default the last feed used will be selected.

A feed is a combination of a Name and an Audience.

If you never created any feed a default public feed will be created for you.

To create one, select ÒCreate a new feedÓ and then enter a name for this field.

Once this is done you can specify the feed audience (World / All Peers / Peer)

- Messages published in ÒWorldÓ feeds are World readable.

- Messages published in ÒAll PeersÓ Feeds will only be visible by people connected to you.

- Messages published in ÒPeerÓ feeds will be visible by people you select in your peer network using the Ò+Ó Icon that will appear if ÒPeerÓ is selected.

:emulatorScreenSnapz016.png:emulatorScreenSnapz017.png

The audience definition / The messageÕs behavior

Last but not least the behavior of the message defining something very special to Marvin.

If you select ÒStaticÓ the message will stay where you publish it. (default)

If you select ÒFollow MeÓ the message will be published and will follow you physically each time you engage the ÒLocation Cruise ControlÓ in the Marvin geo browser.

Selecting a local document

Selecting a document is done using a 3D Oriented file browser, this activity is called when the user select the folder icon to attach a document to a message when publishing or to specify a user image for the userÕs profile.

:emulatorScreenSnapz1.png:emulatorScreenSnapz018.png

As usual, left and right move the current selection to the previous or next file.

Center on a folder open the folder.

Center on a document zoom on the document and ask for a Center touch to confirm or back to cancel.

Touching the top of the screen move up in the folder tree.

Touching the bottom of the screen change the current display mode (also available in the Main Menu)

As visible above at the browsing starting point Marvin allow the user to pick a document the user do not have yet by inserting in the 3D file browser the live camera preview.

By selecting this item the user will be prompt to take a picture by touching the center of the screen or back to cancel.

List Browsing

List browsing in My Marvin is a very convenient way to manage your already published messages; you can go through them by pages of 10 messages. You can open them and since you are the author, you can disable, enable or delete them.

A disabled message will not be visible anymore by other people than you.

:emulatorScreenSnapz021.png:emulatorScreenSnapz022.png

This is the place where you modify your Marvin ID Card including your user name, pairing key and image other users will see.

The different lists available are:

- The list of messages you published.

- The list of messages published to you privately.

- The list of nearby objects.

- The list of your peers to explore their ÒPeer FeedsÓ

:emulatorScreenSnapz025.png:emulatorScreenSnapz023.png:emulatorScreenSnapz024.png

Managing your peer network

In this activity you can search for people using their pairing key if they gave it to you somehow. You can also search by Google ID and if the user is not found in Marvin you will have the possibility to send an e-Mail message to him as a notification of your published private invitation.

If one day the invited user launch and use Marvin he will discover the invitation in his Private Message lists.
